Our Story
JM WURX didn’t start in a bedroom. It started on-site — early mornings, muddy boots, problem-solving on the fly, and learning very quickly that the land always has the final say.
We operate across Queenstown and Waiheke Island, two places that look stunning in brochures and behave very differently once you put machinery on the ground. Steep sections, tight access, weather that changes its mind by lunchtime, and neighbours who care deeply about what you’re doing next door — these environments shaped how JM WURX works and why we do things properly the first time.
Our work spans civil & concrete works, residential building, land & property developments and tree services. (Arboristry) That mix isn’t accidental. We’ve learned that most problems on a build don’t start at framing — they start with the ground, the access, or the trees that were underestimated early on. By bringing civil works, concrete, and arborist capability together under one roof, we control risk, sequencing, and quality from day one.
Civil and concrete are the backbone of everything we do. From site preparation, excavation, retaining, and driveways through to structural slabs and hard landscaping, we focus on work that’s built to last — not just pass inspection. We plan thoroughly, pour carefully, and understand that once concrete’s down, there’s no “we’ll fix it later.”
Our amazing tree services team (Consisting of arborists and qualified operators) handles the tree removals & felling, pruning, and shrub/site clearance with the same mindset. Tree work is serious work — it’s technical, high-risk, and often underestimated. We approach it with respect for the environment, the surrounding properties, and the fact that gravity never negotiates. Whether it’s clearing a site for development or carefully managing trees around existing homes, safety and precision come first.
Building is where everything comes together. We don’t just construct houses — we build homes that respond to their site, their climate, and how people actually live in them. Because we’re involved from the ground up, we understand every layer beneath the finished product, which makes for better decisions, fewer surprises, and smoother builds.
What sets JM WURX apart is accountability. There’s no handballing problems between contractors, no “that’s not our scope,” and no disappearing acts when things get complicated. If it’s on our site, it’s our responsibility — simple as that.
